Martha Gonzales
China
1984
This row of Martha's is at the entrace of one of our gardens. We treat it like a boxwood hedge, using hedge clippers for shaping.

`Martha Gonzales' was originally “found” rose. It is one of our favorite landscape roses. `Martha Gonzales' is a great hedge rose, staying a compact 3' tall. It is easily pruned with hedge clippers, but it will keep blooming even if you don't prune it. The new growth is especially pretty: the foliage has a dark red tinge to it, so even when it's out of bloom, it is still very colorful. It also makes a good container rose.
